Heartfelt thanks to the team of doctors and nurses whose dogged efforts to save Alastair over the past few years have not gone unnoticed. I can guarantee he was worth every minute, every hour, every day, every year you spent in an attempt to stop his cancer in its tracks. Sadly the world has lost one of the best, and I’m convinced he would have been Top Patient #1 in the William Budd Ward. People say no one is irreplaceable but he was the exception to the rule. I’m very sad to hear this news, Mr McLeod was my maths teacher 15 years ago. He was always so patient even though I was terrible at maths! He led myself and 20 other pupils on a once in a lifetime trip to Zambia. He was kind, funny and kept us calm even in the face of crocodiles! He was a brilliant teacher and a lovely, lovely man.
